Japanese Scottish Academy has a fun day with Toffee the highland cow.
Author/illustator, Marghanita who created Toffee invited the Japanese Scottish Academy to visit her local Perthshire Primary school (Logiealmond) to listen to a Toffee storytelling artworkshop.
Maud Ramsey, who runs the academy was delighted to get the opportunity for her pupils to visit the Scottish school.
Marghanita and Maud met through the internet and the academy just adored the Toffee website.
When the Japanese children arrived they were read Toffee stories and then got to make mini Toffee models which was great fun for all. (Their works of art can be seen in the Toffee Gallery). Toffee brought the two cultures together, learning more about Scottish animals and the Scottish countryside. What a memorable day for everyone.
Marghanita then took the Japanese pupils to visit a local farm (West Busby) where they had the chance to see some real Highland cows. The kids loved them and the farm dog!
Marghanita was delighted to be shown footage of the Japanese pupils acting out a scene from her book "Toffee at Home on the Farm" for their gym lesson.
"That was a real thrill for me to know that a school class the other side of the world were acting out a scene from my book"." I never realised how much, an educational source my book was to the Academy." said Marghanita.
The day was a fantastic success and Toffee hopes to visit Japan in the near future.
